RE: Bro's blogpost:---both sides now

Hey brother, your posting really shocked me somehow when you mentioned, "cannot bear to see the physical conditions of the people living there" and "the living conditions should be better than an army bunk?” If you didn't know, KWSH has just undergone a really big renovation just 3 -4 years ago and its conditions now are way better than before... And I personally feel that the eldery can be considered well-taken care of, at least, their basic necessities are fulfilled and if you mentioned that they should better treated and stuffs... Healthcare professionals come in place. Social workers, PTs, OTs care a lot about such patients for we are passionate about our jobs. Yet, SG old folk homes dun tend to employ us u see... this is to cut their costs & even if they do employ, it's not on a regular basis (in another sense, it creates less job for us too). To boost the quality of life of such patients, organizations and schools of all healthcare professions together with the government should be the one holding campaigns, raising money and initiating volunteer works and even full time personnel to care for the eldery. HK has done sth real good in setting up the following service:

卫生署于一九九八年成立长者健康服务,在全港十八区每区各设一间长者健康中心和一支长者健康外展队伍,以加强为长者提供的基层健康 服务,从而提高他们的自我照顾能力,鼓励他们培养良好的生活习惯,同时鼓励 家人加强照顾长者,减低他们染病及罹患残疾的机会。

Many of time, it collaborates with our schools and organisations to hold events and services for elderly for free. Singapore government gotta learn from small things like this before we can move on to provide good quality care for our citizens.

And you were saying that the coniditons of your bunk is better? Please refer back to the government's spending again. How much are they funding healthcare compare to the army? If the eldery in KWSH is having good care like many in those Western countries... Your sister won't be having so much trouble to think about coming back to Singapore to work!

For your proposal, where do we start?

Singapore might be first class in medical hub but doesn’t even offer a degree course in healthcare profession. No universities mean no research no funds no talents. No outsiders believe it! Whenever I say "Singapore only offer a Diploma course in physio.." and every people will go like "oh really???!!!" Yea. See how advance we are.

I know that the government knows how important we are but they fails to understand how "pathetic" we are too. Yet, in the view of scholars above, we are considered to hav a satisfactory pay & doing really well in hospitals...(cuz they dun see the conditions in poly & community)...and hence the gov sees no need to raise our funds... oh well... Maybe, people need to come to HK to see how one can fight for sth.. tt's what our HKPA (HK physio association) is there for. We pay respect for HKPA here but in SG... I dare not to speak a word.
